General Assembly 2019 Paris
On November 21 and 22, 2019, the EFFS members met for their General Assembly at the exhibition grounds of the Funeraire in France. We were well represented at the Funeraire booth with our friends from CPFM and were able to chat with many of our partners and members before moving on to the formalalities of the General Assembly. The Board updated the membership on recent activities (details can be found in the minutes of the General Assembly in our info corner "members only" section) and after two years, it was time again for electing a new Board. Our imcumbent President Guillaume Fontaine was re-elected for a second term of office. We have a new Vice President. Luca Tabossi from Italy, fourth generation funeral director, is looking forward to his term in office. Our first day ended with a conference at the Funeraire with a focus on "Best Practices in Europe". An audience of over 100 joined the EFFS to become more acquainted with practices and traditions in European countries. The countries of France, Spain, Portugal, Romania and Germany were highlighted by guest speakers.
Whilst getting updates on activities and partaking in the formalities of meetings, the EFFS always ensures that funeral heritage and culture is a part of our programme. Although it was a very early start for some of our participants, we dedicated one day to visiting the Père-Lachaise crematorium and cemetery. Père-Lachaise is the largest cemetery in Paris and the crematorium is the first built in France.
Of course there was a little time left over in the evenings for a bit of fun and we would like to thank all sponsors for their contributions for a wonderful wine-tasting and a beautiful gala dinner combined with what else when in Paris - an entertaining cabaret show.
Thank you to all for your attendance and we look forward to our next General Assembly in 2020 n Oslo, Norway.
